Contract awarded for Bowmanville Hospital redevelopment

A contract has been awarded to redevelop Bowmanville Hospital, with construction expected to begin later this autumn, Clarington Mayor Adrian Foster said in a Nov. 6 statement. The project will modernize the hospital serving Clarington residents and more than double its size.

Foster said the municipality is contributing $7.5 million toward the work, while community fundraising through the Bowmanville Hospital Foundation’s “We Care, We Can” campaign is still needed for the project’s local share and hospital equipment.

The contract covers design, financing and construction.
