Durham College classes began Sept. 8 in Oshawa and Whitby, with about 10,800 students enrolled

Classes for Durham College’s 2026–27 academic year began Tuesday, Sept. 8, at the college’s Oshawa and Whitby campuses, with about 10,800 students enrolled, according to the college.

The start of the academic year brings new students to the Oshawa and Whitby campuses and includes orientation activities and athletics events that draw students and visitors, including the annual Campus Cup soccer games.

Durham College reported that more than half of its enrolled students this year are in their first year. The college said it offers more than 145 programs leading to graduate certificates, diplomas and degrees.

The college added four programs for the 2026–27 year: Bachelor of Business Administration (Human Resources Management), Bachelor of Construction Management, Bachelor of Cybersecurity, and Cloud and Information Technology Systems. Durham College said the Bachelor of Business Administration (Human Resources Management) program includes a transfer pathway.

The college said it held Academic Welcome events over the past two weeks.

Durham College’s men’s and women’s soccer teams played Ontario Tech University in the Campus Cup on Sept. 8 at Vaso’s Field. The college reported more than 2,000 fans attended, which it described as a record for the event.

Durham’s women’s team won 1–0 and the men’s team lost 2–1.

Orientation events continue through September, including The Main Stage, Campus Con 5 and Campus Rec Day, the college said.
