Durham College women’s softball team finishes fourth at CCSA nationals in Oshawa
Durham College’s women’s softball team finished fourth at the 2026 Canadian Collegiate Softball Association (CCSA) National Championship, held over the Thanksgiving weekend at the college’s Oshawa campus.
Fourteen of the tournament’s 19 games were decided by three runs or less, according to information posted by Durham College. The Lords advanced to the tournament’s final day before losing in the bronze-medal game.
Durham opened round-robin play with a 2–0 win over Laurier and a 3–1 win over Calgary, before losing 6–2 to Humber in its final round-robin game.
In the quarterfinals, Durham beat Western 5–2 to move into the semifinals.
Durham then lost 3–0 to St. Clair in the semifinals. St. Clair went on to win the national championship.
In the bronze-medal game, Durham lost 3–1 to Laurier, finishing fourth.
“Making it to the final day and competing for a medal was a good showing for our team,” athletic director Scott Dennis said in Durham College’s post about the tournament.
Chelsea Oke was named to the championship all-star team. Dennis said Oke pitched in Durham’s first game and hit a home run in the quarterfinal against Western.
Oke is in her fourth season with the team and also plays on Durham College’s women’s volleyball team. In the same post, Oke said playing nationals in Oshawa meant she could compete “in front of my family and friends.”
Games were played at Babcock Field and Vaso’s Field, which was temporarily reconfigured for softball.
The Lords also finished fourth at nationals in Calgary last year, after winning their first CCSA championship in 2024. Durham College said the team has won 22 Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) provincial championships and is scheduled to play later this month at the OCAA tournament in Windsor.
