Durham Region Conducts Environmental Assessment for Port Perry Employment Area
The Region of Durham is conducting a Schedule B Class Environmental Assessment (EA) for the sanitary sewerage servicing needs of the Port Perry Employment Area. This process is mandated by the Municipal Engineer's Association under the Environmental Assessment Act.
The study evaluates various alternatives to provide pumping capacity and sanitary sewage conveyance for the existing population and planned growth. Options include upgrading and expanding the existing Reach Street Sanitary Sewage Pumping Station (SSPS), constructing a new pumping station, and building new forcemains.
As part of the EA process, the study team has developed and evaluated alternative solutions through a multi-criteria analysis. The recommended solutions are being presented at a Virtual Public Information Centre (PIC).
The Virtual PIC aims to present information about the Schedule B Class EA, project progress, preferred alternative solutions, and next steps for project implementation. Public input is a key component, and residents are encouraged to review the PIC materials available online from July 31, 2024, to September 30, 2024.
Questions or comments regarding the study can be directed to the project team listed on the presentation boards or in the Notice of PIC before September 30, 2024.
