Durham Region schedules three Environment Days drop-off events in Whitby, Cannington and Port Perry
Durham Region says it will hold three Environment Days drop-off events this summer and fall, where residents can bring items for reuse, recycling and safe disposal in Whitby (June 13), Cannington (Aug. 22) and Port Perry (Oct. 3).
The events are designed to give residents set dates and locations to drop off materials that may not fit regular curbside collection, and they also include an optional food donation for a local food bank.
Each Environment Day runs from 8 a.m. to noon and will be held rain or shine, according to the region.
The first event is scheduled for Saturday, June 13 at the Whitby Operations Centre, 333 McKinney Drive, Whitby.
The second event will be held Saturday, Aug. 22 at the Rick MacLeish Memorial Community Centre, 91 Elliot Street, Cannington.
The third event will be held Saturday, Oct. 3 at the Municipal Boat Launch (parking lot), 2 Old Rail Lane, Port Perry.
Durham Region encourages attendees to bring a non-perishable food item to donate to a local food bank. Donated boxes and cans must be unopened, undamaged and not expired.
