Five-vehicle crash in Whitby leaves woman seriously injured, four others with minor injuries
A five-vehicle collision on Thickson Road North south of Highway 407 in Whitby on November 4, 2026, left one woman with serious but non-life-threatening injuries and four other people with minor injuries, Durham Regional Police said.
The woman was taken to a Toronto-area trauma centre, while the four other injured occupants were taken to a local hospital.
Officers from Central West Division responded at approximately 6:05 p.m. According to police, a northbound vehicle lost control, entered the southbound lane and struck another vehicle. That impact led to further collisions involving traffic travelling in both directions.
Seven people were in the vehicles.
Members of the police service’s Collision Investigation Unit attended the scene. The road was closed for several hours while investigators collected evidence. As of November 5, the road had reopened and police were continuing their investigation.
