Guided Hike Scheduled at Orono Crown Lands

Join the Oak Ridges Trail Association for a guided hike at Orono Crown Lands on Sunday, September 15, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. The hike will proceed at a slow to moderate pace, approximately 3.5 km per hour, lasting about 1.5 to 2 hours. Participants will explore trails along Wilmot Creek and an old railway overpass, maintained by volunteers.

Important Details:

  • Meeting Time: Arrive by 9:45 AM for a prompt start at 10:00 AM.
  • Location: Parking and meeting will occur at the Ochonski Road parking lot, 5400 Ochonski Road (intersection of Ochonski Road and Station Street). Note that the Taunton Road lot is not the meeting point.
  • Preparation: Participants are advised to wear closed-toe footwear (no sandals) and bring water.
  • Parking Fee: There is no fee to park, but a donation of one loonie is appreciated to support trail maintenance and bridge projects.
  • Contact: Participants should contact the hike leader by 6 PM the day before the hike to confirm attendance and receive any updates.
  • Waiver: A hardcopy waiver of participation must be signed by all participants.

The hike leaders from the Oak Ridges Trail Association have completed training through Hike Ontario and hold first aid certifications.
