Motorcycle Collision in Whitby Leaves Teenager Seriously Injured
A motorcycle collision occurred in Whitby on Saturday, September 7, 2024, at approximately 7:07 p.m. involving a Yamaha motorcycle and a Kia Sedona van. The van, operated by a 46-year-old male from Whitby, was exiting Highway 412 at Dundas Street West and intended to turn eastbound. Traffic was heavy, and as the van crossed two westbound lanes, it collided with the motorcycle, which was being operated by a 16-year-old female from Whitby in the center lane.
As a result of the collision, the motorcycle operator sustained serious injuries and was transported to a trauma center in Toronto, where she remains hospitalized. The Durham Regional Police Service's Collision Investigation Unit attended the scene to investigate the incident. The roadway was closed for several hours to collect evidence, and the investigation is ongoing.
