Nurse Arrested for Alleged Sexual Assault in Newcastle

A 75-year-old registered nurse has been arrested and charged with sexual assault at a long-term care facility. The Durham Region Police Service reported that the incident took place during the nurse's shift on October 15, 2024, at Fosterbrooke Long-Term Care Home, located at 330 King Avenue West in Newcastle.

According to the police, the suspect was found in the room of a resident and was allegedly inappropriately touching the victim. An investigation by law enforcement is currently underway, and the victim's identity is being protected for privacy reasons.

Fosterbrooke Long-Term Care Home has not yet provided an official response regarding the incident. The facility is expected to fully cooperate with the investigation being conducted by authorities.
