Ontario Tech University to Hold Fall Convocation Ceremonies October 17 in Oshawa
Ontario Tech University will hold its Fall Convocation ceremonies on Thursday, October 17 at the Regent Theatre in downtown Oshawa, according to a university announcement. The university states it will present more than 330 degrees to graduates from the Spring and Summer semesters, with recipients from all faculties, including the School of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies. Three honorary doctorates will also be awarded across two ceremonies, the university said.
The ceremonies are significant locally, increasing the university’s alumni network to more than 31,000 members, according to Ontario Tech. Honorees for this convocation include Mr. Edmond Vanhaverbeke and Ms. Sylvia Lisk Vanhaverbeke, who will receive honorary degrees in the morning ceremony, and Dr. Alan Shepard, who will be recognized in the afternoon ceremony, the university said.
According to Ontario Tech, honorary degrees are presented to individuals recognized for scholarly and public service contributions. All ceremonies can be viewed live online via the Convocation ceremonies live feeds website, according to the university.
