Traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction overnight at the intersection of Kingston Road (Regional Highway 2) and Rotherglen Road in Ajax from June 15 to June 20, 2026, with work scheduled nightly from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.

The lane reductions are tied to construction on Kingston Road for the Durham-Scarborough Bus Rapid Transit (DSBRT) project, a road and transit project that spans from Rotherglen Road to Harwood Avenue.

According to a notice from the Regional Municipality of Durham, the overnight work will take place at Kingston Road and Rotherglen Road and is scheduled to run alongside ongoing daytime construction. Regular daytime work on Kingston Road will continue as scheduled.

The night work is for watermain construction, including replacement of an existing watermain as part of the DSBRT project.

A paid-duty police officer will be on site to help direct traffic during the overnight lane reductions.

Unfavourable weather conditions may affect the work schedule.

Bus routes, bus stops, sidewalks and businesses will remain open during regular operating hours for the duration of construction.

Durham Region said the project is partially funded through the federal Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program.
