Region of Durham to host free Home Energy and EV Expo May 2 in Whitby

The Region of Durham will host a free Home Energy and Electric Vehicle (EV) Expo on Saturday, May 2, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Regional Headquarters, 605 Rossland Road East, in Whitby.

According to the region, the expo will provide information about home electrification and electric vehicles, including available rebates, grants and incentive programs.

The region said topics will include heat pumps, home retrofits and solar options.

Contractors, home energy advisors, solar installers and EV experts are expected to attend, and the event will include EV test drives, the region said.

Homeowners are scheduled to share first-hand experiences about the costs, challenges and benefits of changes they have made, according to the region.

Regional Chair and Chief Executive Officer John Henry said the event is meant to give residents a chance to “learn from one another” through “practical information and real-life experiences.”

Ian McVey, Durham’s director of Environment & Climate, said the expo is intended to bring experts and guidance together so residents can better understand their options.
