Toronto man charged in Durham human trafficking investigation; police seek other victims
Durham Regional Police have charged a 42-year-old Toronto man following an investigation into allegations that he forced a woman into the sex trade across the Greater Toronto Area. Investigators believe there may be additional victims.
The woman came forward to police in the summer of 2026 and reported being exploited between June 2024 and October 2025. Police allege the accused recruited her through a mutual friend before forcing her into the sex trade.
Jean Peralta Marseille, 42, of Toronto, is charged with trafficking in persons, material benefit from sexual services, procuring or exercising control, advertising sexual services, withholding or destroying identity documents, and three counts of possession of a Schedule I substance, according to police.
Members of the Durham Regional Police Service’s Human Trafficking Unit searched the accused’s Toronto residence under a warrant on Nov. 2, 2026. Police said he was arrested without incident.
Investigators released an image of the accused because they believe there may be further victims. The allegations have not been proven in court.
