Bennett Road and Highway 401 closures planned Aug. 7–10 for bridge work in Bowmanville

Bennett Road in Bowmanville is scheduled to close between Baseline Road and Lake Road from 10 p.m. Friday, Aug. 7 to 6 a.m. Monday, Aug. 10, 2026. Highway 401 is also scheduled to fully close in both directions between Liberty Street and Highway 115 from 11 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 8 to 7 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 9, 2026.

The closures are for demolition and reconstruction of the Bennett Road bridge as part of the Ontario Ministry of Transportation’s Highway 401 Interchange Improvement Project.

The Municipality of Clarington announced the closures in a July 21 notice.

Detour routes will be posted during the closures.

Emergency access will be maintained throughout the closures, the municipality said.
