Bennett Road in Bowmanville to close Sept. 9–10, 2026, for bridge demolition work

Bennett Road in Bowmanville will close between the Highway 401 westbound on-ramp and Lake Road from 9 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2026, to 6 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 10, 2026. The closure is to support demolition and reconstruction of the Bennett Road bridge.

The closure affects a short stretch near the Highway 401 interchange, and drivers will be directed around the area while the work takes place.

The Municipality of Clarington said demolition and reconstruction of the Bennett Road bridge is ongoing as part of the Ontario Ministry of Transportation’s Highway 401 Interchange Improvement Project.

Detour routes will be in place throughout the closure, and emergency access will be maintained.

The municipality is asking drivers to follow posted detour signs and allow extra travel time.
