CFIA expands Ola-Ola pounded yam recall due to undeclared milk

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has expanded a recall for Ola-Ola brand Authentic Pounded Yam (Iyan) sold under the label name “IYANINSTANT” because some packages contain milk that is not declared on the label. The recall was first published June 26, 2026, and the notice was last updated July 16, 2026.

CFIA warned that undeclared milk can cause a serious or life-threatening reaction for people with a milk allergy or sensitivity.

In its July 16 update, CFIA said it added additional product sizes identified during its food safety investigation.

The recall applies to all codes of the following sizes where milk is not declared on the label:

• 1.815 kg (UPC 6 50655 49687 3)
• 0.907 kg (UPC 6 50655 24482 5)
• 2.267 kg (UPC 6 50655 24485 6)
• 4.535 kg (UPC 6 50655 24470 2)

The product was distributed nationally and sold online, according to the recall notice.

CFIA said the recall was triggered by a consumer complaint. The agency said there have been no reported reactions associated with consumption of the recalled products.

CFIA lists the recall as Class 1, with identification number RA-81988.

The recalling firms listed in the CFIA notice include Genesis Imports Inc., along with several other companies.

CFIA said it is conducting a food safety investigation and verifying that recalled products are being removed from the marketplace.
