Clarington nomination deadline set for 2 p.m. Aug. 21 ahead of 2026 municipal election
Nominations to run in Clarington’s 2026 municipal election are open until 2 p.m. on Aug. 21, 2026, with election day set for Oct. 26, according to the Municipality of Clarington.
The Oct. 26 vote will decide who serves as Clarington’s mayor and councillors, as well as local school board trustees.
The municipality says nominations opened May 1. Clarington’s notice lists four types of positions candidates can seek:
- Mayor
- Regional councillor
- Local (ward) councillor
- School board trustee
Clarington’s notice also includes information for third-party advertisers. The municipality says individuals, corporations and trade unions that plan to run ads that support or oppose a candidate must register as third-party advertisers before incurring expenses or accepting contributions.
