Clarington schedules four Wednesday outdoor movie nights in August, with skating in Courtice and Newcastle

Clarington will hold four free “Movies Under the Stars” outdoor screenings on Wednesdays in August, with movies starting at dusk in Courtice, Orono, Newcastle and Bowmanville, according to a schedule posted by the municipality.

The series gives residents four set dates and locations for evening movies, and includes pre-show roller skating at two of the stops. The Municipality of Clarington says movie nights will be rescheduled in case of inclement weather.

Aug. 5: The Wild Robot will be shown at dusk at the Courtice Community Complex outdoor rink. Pre-show roller skating is scheduled in two sessions: 6 to 6:40 p.m. and 7 to 7:40 p.m.

Aug. 12: Zootopia 2 will be shown at dusk at the Orono Fairgrounds.

Aug. 19: Inside Out 2 will be shown at dusk at the Diane Hamre Recreation Complex outdoor rink in Newcastle. Pre-show roller skating in Newcastle is scheduled for 6 to 6:40 p.m. and 7 to 7:40 p.m.

Aug. 26: Goat will be shown at dusk at the Garnet B. Rickard Recreation Complex ball diamond in Bowmanville.

For the pre-show roller skating sessions, capacity is limited to 45 people at the Courtice Community Complex dry pad and 60 people at the Diane Hamre Recreation Complex dry pad, the municipality says.

The municipality’s skating rules include a supervision requirement for young children: it says children under 8 must be directly supervised by a person aged 14 or older.
