Clarington withdraws heritage designation notices for three Bowmanville properties

Clarington council has withdrawn three notices of intention to designate properties at 38 Centre Street, 50 Centre Street and 38 Second Street in Bowmanville as heritage properties under Part IV of the Ontario Heritage Act, in a notice dated Aug. 25, 2026.

The withdrawal changes the status of three Bowmanville addresses that had been identified in earlier notices for potential designation under the act.

The notice describes the three properties as “properties of architectural and historical value.” It lists the addresses as 38 Centre Street, 50 Centre Street and 38 Second Street in Bowmanville.

The withdrawal was issued “in the matter of the Ontario Heritage Act, R.S.O. 1990, c.O. 18,” and cites subsection 29(7) of the Ontario Heritage Act.

The municipal notice does not provide a reason for withdrawing the notices and does not say whether new notices will be issued for the same properties.
