Durham College blog post lists 10 campus spaces at Oshawa and Whitby campuses

Durham College published a blog post on Sept. 8 listing 10 campus spaces it says students should know about at its Oshawa and Whitby campuses, including libraries, campus stores, fitness facilities and several campus-specific locations.

For local residents with family members attending the college — or those visiting campus for events — the list outlines where students can study, access services, work out or meet on each campus.

Several of the spaces named in the post are available at both campuses, including the library, campus store, fitness facilities and the Computer Learning Commons.

Libraries at both the Oshawa and Whitby campuses include quiet areas and group study rooms, according to the post. The listing also notes seating near a fireplace and says staff are available to help users.

The campus store is listed at both locations, with items including textbooks, school supplies and Durham College-branded clothing.

For fitness, the Oshawa campus listing points to the Campus Recreation and Wellness Centre. The post describes it as including a fitness centre, dance studio and an elevated indoor jogging and walking track. At Whitby, the post lists the Whitby Campus Fitness Centre and describes it as offering 2,000 square feet of cardio, strength and free-weight equipment.

The Computer Learning Commons is also listed for both campuses. The post’s description includes printing, a private tutoring room and technical support at the Service Desk.

Four of the spaces on the list are specific to the Oshawa campus: the Marketplace Lounge, the Campus Health and Wellness Centre, the Esports Arena and the DC Spa.

Two are specific to the Whitby campus: Pantry at the W. Galen Weston Centre for Food and an outdoor classroom beside the campus fields. The post describes Pantry as offering ready-made assortments prepared by Durham College culinary staff and students, and says the outdoor classroom is used for meetings and social gatherings.
