Durham Region survey open May 4–18 on Bill 100 and how the regional chair is selected
Durham Region has opened a public survey from May 4 to May 18 to collect residents’ views on Bill 100, the Better Regional Governance Act, 2026, proposed Ontario legislation that would change how the Durham Regional Chair is selected.
The survey is part of Durham Regional Council’s response to the bill, and the region says it will use the feedback to summarize local perspectives for the province.
In its May 4 announcement, Durham Region said the survey asks about Bill 100, including whether the regional chair should continue to be elected by residents.
The region said Durham Regional Council passed a motion on April 29 to seek public input on the proposed legislation.
Durham Region said it will summarize survey results in a public Council Information Package and forward that summary to the Province of Ontario for consideration.
The region also said the survey is limited to Durham Region residents and is intended to take only a few minutes to complete.
