Lakeridge Health AGM Highlights Achievements and Local Health Care Hero Award
Lakeridge Health held its 2023-2024 Annual General Meeting (AGM) on June 14, 2024, at Lakeridge Gardens Long-Term Care Home. The meeting highlighted several key achievements aimed at improving access to healthcare in the Durham Region through innovative practices and technology.
Notable accomplishments presented during the AGM included:
- The launch of a new referral model for mental health and substance use care, named Central Connect.
- The introduction of the inaugural class of the Queens-Lakeridge Health MD Family Medicine Program.
- The opening of a new Surgical Centre at the Jerry Coughlan Health & Wellness Centre.
- Progress in Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, Accessibility, and Anti-Racism initiatives with a Multi-Year Action Plan.
- The installation of a new CT scanner for Port Perry residents.
- The addition of Durham Region's first PET-CT machine for specialized cancer imaging.
- The establishment of a Behavioural Support Transition Unit at Lakeridge Gardens.
- The implementation of a Sickle Cell Disease Quality Standard pilot project at Ajax Pickering Hospital.
The AGM also recognized the Ajax Pickering Palliative Care Community Team with the 2023-2024 Local Health Care Hero Award. This team provides in-home palliative care services to individuals with advanced illnesses who cannot access care outside their homes. The Local Health Care Hero Award was introduced to acknowledge those dedicated to supporting and raising awareness of healthcare needs in the community.
