More than 230 Durham College Centre for Success students recognized at Oshawa ceremony

More than 230 students in Durham College’s Centre for Success program were recognized at a completion ceremony last month at the Tribute Communities Centre in Oshawa, the college said.

The Centre for Success is a Durham College program that the college describes as an alternative pathway that includes smaller class sizes and individualized support, with students learning in a college environment while earning high school and post-secondary credits.

Durham College said family, friends, educators and community partners attended the ceremony.

Student Emily Krolicki said the program offered “a second chance” and “a fresh start.”

The Centre for Success is a partnership between Durham College and local school boards, including the Durham District School Board, Durham Catholic District School Board, and the Peterborough Victoria Northumberland and Clarington Catholic District School Board, according to the college.

Meagan Quesnelle, Durham College’s director of dual credits and academic upgrading, said students in the program come with “unique experiences and challenges.” Victoria Kee, the college’s manager of dual credits and academic upgrading, said “success is not always a straight path.”
