North Bowmanville Dog Park Site Selection Process Continues

The search for a suitable location for an off-leash dog park in North Bowmanville continues as addressed in the latest General Government Committee meeting. The decision for this project was part of the 2021 capital budget, highlighting the ongoing efforts by the city to locate viable municipal land for the dog park's development.

During the March 3, 2025 meeting, Staff Report PDS-002-25 was reviewed, which noted that current municipally owned lands fail to meet the necessary criteria outlined in the Parks, Recreation and Culture Master Plan. Valleys 2000, a local body, has voiced concerns about the proposed location through a letter sent on February 25, 2025.

The committee, acknowledging these challenges and objections, has directed staff to continue their pursuit of identifying acceptable municipal lands that align with the specified development criteria. No conclusive timeline is available for the project's completion at this moment, with further explorations and discussions expected to guide future updates.
