Ontario Culture Days events scheduled in Bowmanville, Courtice and Newcastle for Sept. 18 to Oct. 4, 2026
Clarington Library, Museums & Archives has scheduled several Ontario Culture Days events in Bowmanville, Courtice and Newcastle from Sept. 18 to Oct. 4, 2026.
Organizers of Ontario Culture Days say the provincewide festival will run on those dates and include more than 1,500 free events.
In Bowmanville, “Indigenous Medicine Music” is scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 24 from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Bowmanville Library. The drop-in program is for Grades 3 to 6.
Also at the Bowmanville Library, “Islamic History Month Storytime” is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 26 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. It is a drop-in program for all ages, presented with the Muslim Women of Durham Region.
Two adults talks that require registration are scheduled at the Sarah Jane Williams Museum as part of the Jury Lands Foundation guest speaker series. Rick Gimblett is scheduled to speak on “Guardians of the North: Canadian Warships and Maritime Aircraft” on Thursday, Sept. 24 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
A second talk in the series is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 1 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. The talk is titled “Marilyn Pearce & CLMA: Prince Albert to Bowmanville, John Jury.”
An online author visit with Monique Gray Smith is scheduled via Zoom on Monday, Sept. 28 from 7 to 8 p.m. The event requires registration and is for adults, presented in partnership with Durham and York Region Libraries.
In Courtice, “Celebrating Courtice History” is scheduled at the Courtice Community Complex on Friday, Oct. 2 from 4 to 7 p.m. The drop-in event is for adults and will include displays and guest speakers. It is presented with the Municipality of Clarington 55+ and the Courtice Vintage History Group.
The schedule includes adult drop-in film screenings during the festival. “The Nest” is scheduled at the Newcastle Library on Friday, Sept. 18 from 10:30 a.m. to noon, and at the Bowmanville Library on Monday, Sept. 21 from 1 to 2:30 p.m.
“Siksikakowan: The Blackfoot Man” is scheduled at the Courtice Library on Friday, Sept. 25 from 1 to 2:30 p.m., and at the Bowmanville Library on Monday, Sept. 28 from 10 to 11:30 a.m.
