The Canadian Food Inspection Agency says Smarter Snacks Vegan Protein Puff Chili & Lime Flavored (50 g) is being recalled nationally and online because milk is not declared on the label. The notice was updated Sept. 5, 2026.

The recall matters for people with a milk allergy or sensitivity, because undeclared allergens can cause serious reactions. The CFIA warns that people with a milk allergy or sensitivity should not consume the product because it may cause a serious or life-threatening reaction.

The recalled product is Smarter Snacks Vegan Protein Puff Chili & Lime Flavored (50 g), UPC 8 684041 306837.

The recall applies to these best-before dates and lot numbers:

  • Best before: Aug. 11, 2026; Lot No.: SS223
  • Best before: April 20, 2027; Lot No.: SS110

The recall was triggered by a consumer complaint, the CFIA said. The CFIA reported one reaction linked to consumption of the product.

Empire Health Distribution Inc. is listed as the recalling firm.

The CFIA is conducting a food safety investigation that may lead to recalls of other products. The CFIA says it is verifying the product is being removed from the marketplace.

The recall is classified as Class 1. The recall identification number is RA-82604.
