The municipality stated that this distribution is a precautionary measure for those living or working near the nuclear facilities.
According to the Municipality of Clarington, KI pills help protect the thyroid gland in case of exposure to radioactive iodine during a nuclear incident. The advisory indicates that households and businesses within the specified 10-kilometre area are eligible to obtain the pills.
