Fatal Fire Incident in Downtown Bowmanville Under Investigation

On March 6, a fire occurred in downtown Bowmanville around midnight, resulting in a fatality. The Clarington Fire Department and local police responded, facilitating the evacuation of nearby residents and securing the area. The Ontario Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of the incident.

The fire led to the closure of King Street West between Silver and Scugog Streets. Numerous businesses remain closed due to the incident's impact and the ongoing investigation process.

Evacuated individuals received temporary accommodation in warming buses, with support from the Region of Durham and the Red Cross.
