Ride-Share Driver Arrested in Whitby on Sexual Assault Charge

A ride-share driver has been arrested in Whitby following allegations of sexual assault. The Durham Region Police Service (DRPS) reports that Paul Sundaramahesam, aged 43, was apprehended after he allegedly inappropriately touched a passenger while driving a red Mitsubishi SUV on May 3, 2025.

The vehicle, identifiable by its Ontario license plate CZKL 975, was the setting for the alleged assault, which took place with the victim in the front passenger seat. Sundaramahesam has been charged with sexual assault and has since been released under specific legal conditions.

DRPS has released an image of the suspect and is urging anyone with additional information to come forward. They express concern about the possibility of other victims who may have encountered similar situations.
