Ontario Funds Bridging Programs for New Graduates and Newcomers in Construction

The Ontario government has announced the fifth round of the Skills Development Fund (SDF), with up to $260 million available for training initiatives. This round includes funding for bridging programs aimed at helping new graduates and newcomers to Canada adapt to roles in the construction industry.

The Ontario General Contractors Association (OGCA) will use the funds to develop programs that help new graduates and newcomers who have an education as Project Coordinators transition to Project Manager roles in construction. Additionally, the funding will support upskilling programs that allow contractors to identify and train existing workers for Site Supervisor positions.

Ontario Tech named ‘Most Sustainably Improved’ in 2025 UI GreenMetric; receives Durham Region sustainability award

Ontario Tech University in Oshawa was named Most Sustainably Improved University in the 2025 UI GreenMetric World University Rankings and also received a sustainability award from the Region of Durham, the university announced December 19. UI GreenMetric evaluates universities worldwide on environmental performance, infrastructure and sustainability initiatives. The regional award
