Soper Creek Trail Construction Timeline and Details

Construction Schedule and Affected Areas

  • Week of July 2, 2024: Installation of sediment/erosion control fencing and construction fencing.
  • Week of July 8, 2024: Site preparation on the east side of Soper Creek Trail.
  • July 15 to September 15, 2024: Active construction period for sanitary sewer installation. Soper Creek Trail at Mearns Park will be closed during this time.
  • Week of August 12, 2024: Additional construction work begins, expected to take approximately seven weeks.

Specific Areas Affected

  • Mearns Park: The park will remain open, but Soper Creek Trail within the park will be closed.
  • Cotton Street and Sprucewood Crescent in Bowmanville: Primary construction access points. Trail access will be restricted within the construction zone.

Intended Improvements

  • Retaining Wall: Installation of a retaining wall.
  • Signage: New signage will be placed in designated areas.
  • Amenities: Installation of new amenities along the trail.
  • Landscaping: Restorative landscaping will be conducted.

Additional Information

  • Construction will take place from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday to Saturday.
  • A pedestrian detour route with identified signage will be placed in designated areas.
  • Access to properties fronting Cotton Street and Sprucewood Crescent will be maintained.
  • Garbage, recycling pick-up, and mail deliveries should not be disrupted.
